Randy Hild is a legend in the surf industry who ushered in a new era in womenʼs surfing with the birth of Roxy. He has one of the largest collections of vintage Surf ephemera including rare books and magazines, which he is opening up to the world for sale for the first time at Fort Gansevoort.

Since 1978, James Cummins Bookseller has been selling rare books, autographs, and first editions of all kinds. They specialize in literature, Americana, sporting books, voyages and decorative bindings. Their catalogued inventory exceeds 50,000 titles and their New Jersey warehouse contains over 400,000 books in all subject areas. James Cummins Bookseller has been a long time member of the ABAA (Antiquarian Booksellers Association of American ), ILAB (International League of Antiquarian Booksellers) and the ABA (Antiquarian Booksellers Association).


We are very excited to have a selection of books and ephemera from James Cummins curated to correspond with Roy Fowler’s “New Wave” show, ranging from a first edition of Hemingway’s The Old Man and The Sea to a rare set of Bruce Brown posters.

Examining the intersection of music and surf countercultures through the historic and unique medium of surf films, Anthology Surf Archive reissues Surf Soundtracks for a new audience to explore this storied relationship. The records and an exclusive zine will be available at Fort Gansevoort leading up to a screening of Paul Witzig's "Sea of Joy," hosted by Mexican Summer and Anthology Surf Archive.
