Gail Buckland will be reading from her 2016 book WHO SHOT SPORTS: A Photographic History, 1843 to the present. Referencing the over 200 culturally significant sports photographs in this anthology, Buckland’s essay considers how, for whom, and to what ends such images are constructed.

Gail Buckland is a Brooklyn-based curator and historian of photography. She is the Visiting Professor of the History of Photography at Cooper Union, New York, and has held the Nobel Chair in Art and Cultural history at Sarah Lawrence College.
